Death adalah Death Metal band dari Orlando, Florida, Amerika Serikat yang didirikan pada tahun 1983 oleh Chuck Schuldiner (vokal, gitar) dengan namaMantas, menggambar musik dan inspirasi dari Venom dan Slayer. Mei 1985 berubah menjadi Death.

Death merupakan salah satu Death Metal band yang paling berpengaruh. Debut album "Scream Bloody Gore" telah digambarkan sebagai "Dokumen pola dasar pertama Death Metal".

Para penulis biografi musik menganugerahi Schuldiner sebagai "Bapak Death Metal" dan "Pendiri Death Metal Amerika Serikat".

Pada tahun 2008, album Death telah terjual lebih dari 2 juta album di seluruh dunia, dengan lebih dari 500.000 eksemplar terjual pada desember 2009 di Amerika Serikat.

SKYFIRE

Skyfire adalah Melodic Death Metal / Extreme Power Metal / Progressive Metal band dari Höör, Swedia, yang dibentuk pada tahun 1995 oleh Andreas Edlund (gitar), Martin Hanner (bass, keyboard), Jonas Sjögren (bass) danTobias Björk (drum).

Skyfire mencampurkan unsur-unsur Melodic Death Metal, Black Metal, Power Metal, Neo-Classical Metal, Progressive Metal dan Symphonic Metal dalam musik mereka. Lirik Skyfire bertemakan tentang kesedihan dan depresi.

Pada tahun 2003, Skyfire tur Eropa bersama Ancient Rites, Blood Red Thronedan Thyrfing. Pada tahun 2004, Skyfire tur bersama Dark Moor dan tampil diBusan Rock Festival bersama Arch Enemy, Soilwork dan Rage di Korea Selatan.

Setelah hiatus singkat dan serangkaian perubahan anggota, Skyfire bangkit kembali pada tahun 2007.

Skyfire menghabiskan dua setengah tahun untuk menulis bahan album "Esoteric"(September 2009) dan direkam di Powernest Studios, Gothenburg, Swedia. Di album "Esoteric", Skyfire menggunakan paduan suara orkestra, lebih progresif dan riff berat.

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES have been confirmed for next year's edition of the Metaltown festival, set to take place June 17-18, 2011 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Mapalas Unitomo Gelar Konser Amal Korban Bencana

Surabaya - Tergerak memberi bantuan korban letusan Gunung Merapi Yogyakarta, Mahasiswa Pecinta Alam dan Seni (Mapalas) Uniersitas Dr Soetomo (Unitomo) menggandeng musisi rock Surabaya menggelar konser musik amal, Kamis (25/11/2010).

Belasan grup band dipastikan ambil bagian dalam ajang bertitel Mapalas Ben-Benan Spesial Merapi itu. Acara konser musik amal itu akan digelar nonstop mulai pukul 15.00 WIB hingga 23.00 WIB di halaman kampus Unitomo Jalan Semolowaru.

Kelompok musik yang ambil bagian dalam konser musik amal antara lain Creme Caramel, Plester-X, Macan dan Devadata. Gitaris senior dari grup band Power Metal, Ipunk juga akan tampil berkolaborasi dengan band-band yang hadir.

Ketua panitia Maplas Ben-Benan Spesial Merapi, Supardi Tamia (20), menyatakan
pagelaran musik amal itu diselenggarakan untuk mengetuk rasa kepedulian dan kebersamaan musisi, pecinta musik dan masyarakat Surabaya pada umumnya membantu korban bencana Merapi. Event itu juga merupakan bentuk upaya mahasiswa membantu sesama.

"Kami mengupayakan bentuk dukungan pada saudara kita di Jogjakarta melalui cara kami bisa lakukan, selain memberi bantuan secara langsung kami juga mewadahi para musisi dan pecinta musik Surabaya," kata Supardi yang tercatat sebagai pengurus Mapalas Unitomo.

Mahasiswa dan FIA semester lima ini menambahkan para musisi dan grup band yang berpartisipasi beriniatif tampil meskipun mereka tidak dibayar. "Padahal mereka band ternama, bukannya dibayar mereka juga ada yang menyumbang selain ikut tampil," tambah mahasiswa yang biasa dipanggil Adi itu.

Acara konser musik dibuka untuk umum. "Gratis, tidak ada tiket masuk, tapi kami mengimbau masyarakat yang menonton memberi sumbangan bantuan sukarela," tegas Adi.

Pengungsi Merapi di Jogjakarta. Sementara itu para musisi Surabaya yang ikut tampil dalam Mapalas Ben-Benan Spesial Merapi menyatakan senang bisa tampil sekaligus membantu korban Merapi.

"Kami dan teman-teman dengan senang hati ikut berpartisipasi," ujar Gatuk, musisi senior Surabaya yang juga gitaris kelompok musik Macan.

Hal senada juga disampaikan Bodhas, vokalis dan gitaris Devadata yang dengan
senang hati mendukung kegiatan koner amal itu. "Kami tetap akan tampil maksimal meski ini konser amal," tegas Bodhas

Arch Enemy Playing Summer Breeze Festival 2011

The organizers of the Summer Breeze 2011 festival have issued the following statement about confirming Arch Enemy:

"They belong to the most popular and important bands in the entire metal scene, they are regularly found on the covers of European magazines thanks to their attractive blond front woman Angela Gossow, and they release killer album after killer album.We're talking about Arch Enemy! Their last studio album, 'Rise Of The Tyrant', was released over three years ago, but this hasn't diminished the Swedish-German collaboration's popularity in the least. Quite the contrary, as in the meantime the band led by guitar virtuoso Michael Amott have even foud the time and boldness to conquer such exotic places as the Maldives.

Chris Adler talks new Lamb Of God material

Lamb Of God are preparing to head back into the studio and already have tours pencilled in for 2012, according to Chris Adler.

The modern-day metal master told Gun Shy Assassin that the two-year touring cycle for 2009's Wrath is nearing an end, and the US titans are eyeing February for laying some new material down.

He said: "…we're going to kind of lay low for the holidays, and then I think probably February, get together and start writing the new one which we hope to have done by the end of next year.

"We're already booked for several tours in 2012, so, we've already got the schedule rolling and a little job security, so things are good."

Iron Maiden Dipastikan Konser di Indonesia

Jakarta, CyberNews. Setelah melalui berbagai pendekatan yang berjalan dengan marathon, Iron Maiden, grup heavy metal dari Inggris, telah menyatakan kesiapannya untuk menggelar konsernya di Indonesia. Demikian ditegaskan Tommy Pratama, promotor Original Production di Jakarta, Minggu (7/11).

Menurut dia, sejak bulan April lalu, bersamaan dengan misinya mendatangkan Michael Bolton (MB) ke Jakarta, pada saat itupula, dia bersama manajemennya telah melakukan pendekatan kepada manajemen Iron Maiden. "Dan mereka akhirnya memberikan kepastian mereka baru-baru ini," kata Tommy. Tepatnya, pada bulan Februari 2011, Iron Maiden akan memamerkan kegaharannya di Jakarta, dan Bali.

Yang pasti, imbuh dia, sebagaimana Slash dan beberapa nama besar lainnya yang pernah menggelar konser mereka di Indonesia, mereka akan membawa sendiri peralatan konser mereka. "Dengan total kargo satu pesawat pribadi milik mereka sendiri," katanya. Dengan kepastian datangnya grup band yang berdiri sejak tahun 1975 itu, Tommy menyatakan telah melunasi hutangnya kepada sekitar 10.000 facebooker yang terus mendukungnya untuk mendatangkan supergrup kugiran itu.

Menurut rencana, tiket pre sale, dijual dari harga Rp 350 ribu - Rp 1 juta. Sedangkan tiket after sale menjadi menjadi antara Rp 500 ribu - Rp 1,5 juta. Yang pasti, sebagaimana dia katakan, Steve Harris, pentolan, pendiri, dan bassis Iron Maiden, dalam percakapannya dengan Tommy menyatakan ketidaksabarannya untuk bertemu penonton musiknya di Jakarta. "Saya hanya mendengar dari beberapa musisi yang pernah mampir di Jakarta, katanya penonton di sana asyik," demikian dikatakan Tommy menirukan ucapan Harris.

Sebagaimana dicatat, Iron Maiden telah merilis 30 album, 14 album studio, 7 album live, dan 4 album kompilasi. Sekaligus dicatat sebagai pioner gelombang baru musik heavy metal di Inggris Raya yang telah meraih sejumlah penghargaan berprestasi. Termasuk sejumlah album yang telah meraih penjualan platinum di AS lewat albumThe Number of the Beast pada 1982.

Kemudian album Piece of Mind (1983), Powerslave (1984), dan album fenomenal Live After Death (1985),Somewhere In Time (1986), dan album Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988). Secara keseluruhan Iron Maiden tercatat sebagai salah satu band heavy metal tersukses di dunia yang berhasil menjual lebih dari 100 juta kopi album di seluruh dunia. EMO Music

What is emo music

Emocore has been subject of much debate since it first appeared. So...emo is a genre of rock music. At first, the term was used to describe a subgenre of hardcore punk in the '80s. Later, 'emocore' was used to describe the DC scene and regional scenes related.

The biggest names of the period are Fire Party, Rites of Spring,One Last Wish, Embrace, Beefeater, Gray Matter, and Moss Icon.

The first wave of emo began to fade after the breakups of most of the involved bands in the early 1990s. In the mid '90s, 'emo' began to reflect the indie scene that followed the influences of Fugazi. Bands like 'Texas is the reason' and 'Sunny Day Real Estate' introduced a more indie rock style of emo, less violent than it's predecessor. "Indie emo" survived until the late '90s. As the remaining indie emo bands entered the mainstream, newer bands began to emulate the more mainstream style, creating a style of music that has now earned the moniker emo within popular culture.

Whereas, even in the past, the term emo was used to identify a wide variety of bands, the breadth of bands listed under today's

emo is even more vast, leaving the term "emo" as more of a loose identifier than as a specific genre of music.
